Luther’s Works Alone

This series presents Luther's complete major writings, with the original German or Latin text in the back of the book for quick reference. These are the only bilingual editions of Luther's works ever printed. These manuscripts have been meticulously translated into English from the original Fraktur manuscript. The German texts have been transcribed into the modern German text. This series is intended to be a systematic introduction to Luther's works and includes all of the Reformer's writings, including minor and obscure texts, in 7 editions. Some of these sermons and letters have never had a modern English translation.

In German publications, the continental idealists and even minor philosophers and writers have "Hauptwerke" or "major works" that systematically organize an author's works, usually chronologically. In English, these are less common, and there are many great authors who do not have such a system. Luther has suffered from this until now.
