  • French Translation Assistant

    Responsibilities:

    Under a lead translator, assist in the translation of historic literary manuscripts from their original language into French, ensuring accuracy and maintaining the original style and tone.

    Conduct thorough research to understand the context and nuances of the source material.

    Review and revise translations based on feedback from editors and linguistic experts.

    Payment by manuscript: any publications of these manuscripts will be in editions published under the lead translator at Livraria Press. Hourly translation assistance only; works will remain property of livraria press.

    Qualifications:

    Fluency in French, particularly Enlightenment-era French and proficiency in the source language (English necessary and German preferred).

    Proven experience in literary translation- particularly Philosophy

    Strong understanding of French grammar, syntax, and cultural-historical nuances.

    Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Literature, Linguistics, or a related field is preferred.

  • Italian Translation Assistant

    Under the direction of a lead translator, assist in the translation of historic literary works from their original language (German and English) into Italian, ensuring the translation is accurate and retains the original's essence. Expertise with philosophic works preferred: Epistemology and Ontology.

    Perform extensive research ( historical, cultural) to fully grasp the context and subtleties of the source material.

    Payment by manuscript: any publications of these manuscripts will be in editions published under the lead translator at Livraria Press

    Qualifications:

    Fluency in Italian and proficiency in the source language (English necessary and German preferred). Understanding of historic dialects a plus.

    Demonstrated experience in literary translation.

    Comprehensive knowledge of Italian grammar, syntax, and cultural nuances.

    Strong research capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.

    Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

    Bachelor’s degree in Literature, Linguistics, or a related field is preferred

  • Portuguese Translation Assistant

    Responsibilities:

    Translate historic literary works from their original language into Portuguese, ensuring fidelity to the original text and cultural context.

    Collaborate with editors and other translators to ensure consistency and quality in translations.

    Conduct detailed research to understand the historical and cultural context of the works. This research is critical to translate the socio-cultural historical meaning of the text.

    Payment by manuscript: any publications of these manuscripts will be in editions published under the lead translator at Livraria Press

    Qualifications:

    Fluency in Portuguese and proficiency in the source language (English necessary and German preferred. Source manuscript is available in German or English).

    Proven track record in literary translation.

    Deep understanding of Portuguese grammar, syntax, and cultural nuances.

    Exceptional research skills and keen attention to detail.

    Ability to work both independently and within a team setting.

    Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Literature, Linguistics, or a related field is preferred.
